This course kicks off with the Opening Day Broadcast of Disneyland that premiered on ABC television on July 17, 1955. This was the largest live television broadcast to date with over 90 million people tuning in. That’s half the country! In this lesson, Jeff shares fun, fascinating stories and facts from behind the scenes of opening day.
Discover where the dream of Disneyland was born: outside the Opera House in Griffith Park, Downtown Los Angeles. Sitting on a park bench, a dream was born of parents and kids having fun together. One of the many things we can learn from the life of Walt Disney is this: All it takes is courage, motivation, and inspiration to change our world. Then, we simply need to own our dreams, get up off the bench, and take action.
Disney made the statement, “As long as there is imagination left in the world, Disneyland will never be finished.” In fact, on opening day Disneyland was not finished. However; within 7 weeks after the opening of the park, Disneyland welcomed its one millionth customer.
